Welcome Back Tilapia

Last year for the first time your HOA Board of Directors voted to introduce 120 pounds of tilapia into the Lake Interlochen waterways in order to fight algae. The results exceeded our expectations. Those hungry little vegetarian fish ate algae and spawned and got bigger and ate more algae at a cheaper cost than the chemicals we had been using in the past. Since tilapia cannot survive in water under 55 degrees we must replace them each spring. Fortunately, we were able to negotiate a better price as repeat customers. "Water Czar" Ken Seipel welcomed the tilapia back to Interlochen behind Tom and Dot Wightman's home on the South Channel from where they should be able to quickly spread throughout the entire water system.
